Yes, in the last 3 trading days no more buyback after hitting 10.0% limit. Still the stock is steady at 50.5 cents, despite market weakness today.

The company bought back 349,000 shares today. However, I am surprised to see it has hit 10.0% limit. Does it mean no more buyback until the mandate is renewed at the next AGM? Any guru can advise?

As expected, Innotek bought back shares again today --- 383,000 to be exact, at 50-51 cents.
Innotek has another 4 million or so shares more to scoop up and then it hits the 10% limit.
What happens after that? Will they get a renewed buyback mandate at the next AGM?

The stock price should firm up in the near term because Innotek has resumed its share buyback yesterday with 449,000 shares bought at 50 cents.

I can see that fr the company  point of view buying the shares at 50 cents makes good money sense, cos that's 10% yield as it is going to pay 5 cents dividend.

Am not sure if it pays itself the dividend or it simply saves on not having to pay out 5 cents dividend. Anyone can clarify? Either way, it makes good sense to do the buyback. There will be more to come --- Innotek has a strong track record of share buybacks.

They did not make enough profit for FY11 to distribute $0.05 div per share so they are distributing previous years' retained earnings.........

Sabana has fallen to 87.5 after going x-d, yielding 2.17 cent in dividend. Badly underperformed in this current market rally.

[viviene 28-01-2012]:

Sabana didnt turn out to be a cool investment, as Innotek bought at $1.05 IPO price. The price currently is 91 cents, so it lost 14 cents per unit!
The dividend return probably has not covered the hole opened by the capital loss (paper loss).

Yes. Innotek can pay dividends from retained profits (i.e. undistributed, accumulated profits from previous years) even though the company did not make enough profit for the dividend amount. It really depends on the decision of the Innotek board and where the board will be taking the company next.

In the past year, the board saw it fit to invest in Sabana Reit which is essentially saying that we got so much cash and since we can't buy new business, and since we can't use it operationally to generate any better return, so we are on going  invest it on behalf of shareholders in a Reit instead of returning the excess cash to shareholders.

Hello Leo: Can't a company pay dividends that exceed the year's profits?  I doubt Innotek would do it next month for FY2011 results, though, unless it's confident it can do well this year to ' catch up'. What do you think?

Leo, I agree with your points. To add, the chances of Innotek maintaing a 5-c dividend are very low because the cash & cash equiv has gone down substantially as at end-Sept. From $96 million to $54 million. The free cashflow in 4Q might be better than in 3Q as business got better but not in a massive way.

Are you trying to talk up Innotek share ?

The YTD FY11 3Qtr cumulatiive profit stands at SGD2.0 Mio. Innotek expects a weaker Q4, optimistically let say they manage to make SGD1.0 Mio. Projected annual profit for FY11 is SGD3.0 Mio.

Total share outstanding Issued & Paid-up Shares 225,233,000

In FY10, Innotek made SGD17.8 Mio profit, they can offer to pay SGD0.05 div. In FY11, if Innotek pays SGD0.05 cents per shares, total dividend outlay needed will be SGD11.26Mio

By doing so, Innotek will be doing a return of capital and not paying out of its operating profits.

Old thread re-discovered -- the stock has done badly since the last posting.
41.5 cents currently. There is talk/hope/speculation of the same payout of a 5-cent dividend.

To Wai Hung pared down his stake from 7.23% to 3.72%. Transaction price is $0.55. Should have made money afterall just collected his 5cent dividend.

8 million shares bought by Gazelle Capital in a married deal. Wonder who the seller is. Anyone has any idea? And how long has he held it? Make money or not? Gazelle is now a substantial shareholder. Seems like a vote of confidence in InnoTek.

Share buyback has stopped for a while, but its stock price is firming up to 55 cents now. Maybe another dividend coming with half year results - solid one, I am expecting. B)

As some of you expected, Innotek delivered a good set of results, and the stock is flying now at 55 cents, up 4 cents this morning. :) Innotek must have re-started its share buyback programme. If that is the case, I can only say that this company is consistent, stable and shareholder-friendly.

Innotek is now 51 cents (+2.5 cents) which adds up to 56 cents if you include the 5 cent dividend for those people who continue to own the stock. The company has not done a share buyback during the current blackout period (which is 2 weeks before the Q1 results announcement). After that ....... hehehehe.... :woohoo:

Innotek closed at 48.5 cents, after it went ex-dividend on Tuesday. Adding back the 5 cent dividend, the stock is something like 53.5 cents. Kevin Scully in his blog has written the following: Innotek is in a very unique position as a tech stock. It has a very strong balance sheet with gross cash of more than S$100mn. Its NTA is S$0.85 and its set to have a good Q1 and Q2 and also 2010 in terms of profits for its remaining stamping business. On PER, dividend yield and price to book, the stock is attractive. So even though its gone ex-dividend, it still warrants a place in my portfolio and will review my price target once its Q1-2010 results are released. But tech stocks are always vulnerable to the cyclical nature of their business and earnings. For the next two quarters at least and unless otherwise guided by management, the outlook remains good. http://www.netresearch-asia.com/netresearchV4/Research/Blogs/GetBlog.aspx?blog_no=518#comments

Mgmt buyback is due to better yields vs keeping the cash or distributing as dividends. If the firm is able to earn a return that is higher than 20% on invested capital, why would he buyback shares? He will just throw all the capital to continue making his products and selling them. The yield for price of $0.595 is 8.4%. However, assuming he can pay for another 4-5 yrs, one can get back at most $0.2 - $0.25 per share of cash. Thats not even 50% of invested money one puts into the stock over 4-5 yrs. Mgmt stated 2010 will improve but less than 2007. If stock price goes up much more, do you think management will pay at the same yield as promised? I think they will rather up the buyback mark to 15% of total capital. What I am saying is at current price, one needs to be careful what price one buys the stock at. Clearly at $0.595, there lies some potential risks. Let me know your thoughts on this. More than happy to discuss this issue.

early may 5 cents dividend for a $0.595 per share stock!!!! Owner wouldn\'t be so stupid to buy back so much if the first quarter result is not good. He is going to buy back up to the max of 10% of mkt cap. (by ruling) This company has been able to declare 2 yrs of 5 cents dividend despite the bad time so why worry? Beside this year economy is looking at an expansion of 7% - 9% with strong growth in the electronic sector in the first quarter Lastly at the CIMB share investor talk, owner is confident to keep paying the same rate of dividend each year. To wrap up, i m not going to miss this gem...... ;p Another trasure...

Bought back 1 m shares yesterday which was Wednesday at around 60 cents. InnoTek looks committed to buying back its shares. Now already 18.1 m bought back which is 7.77% of the entire share capital. Everyone would certainly be looking out for its 1Q result. Is it going to be as strong as the MD is suggesting it is?
