China’s Ministry of Railways (MOR) has yet to re-ignite contract tenders for high-speed rail train cars, despite repeated reaffirmation of its long-term commitment to the sector. In addition, contract wins will also take time to filter down from its customers to Midas, even after MOR resumes its contract tenders.

We estimate this whole process could take 6-9 months. Hence, we expect the group’s financial performance to remain tepid in FY12.

1 day you say breakout tmrw like it's going up like a rocket. Now you say "slowly breaking out of base ....". Proven you are bo zhun leh!

The fact is, the Ministry of Railway in China hasn't re-started tenders. Midas tan ku ku.... This is fundamentally what brought the stock down last year. To get up again, Midas needs to clinch a number of good contracts and get out of the desert.

1) If market condition stays stable till 2013 , i hope midas will be at least a dollar . Reason is record revenues expected in next few years .

2) Midas long time ago after it was listed , around 2004 it was trading at i think about 20-30cents . But that is history already .

 3)Midas was incorporated since year 2000 until now ... 12 years of operation . It is never a real S-chip as the CEO is a singaporean and company's main business/operation comes from China only ... Chances of suspension almost NIL . Do you know who sits on their board of director ? It includes MP of parliament - Mr Chan Soo sen - MP for Joo Chiat constituency .

4) TA wise i can't be too sure . But at 35c or below . Please do grab more shares

2nd query)Someone pmed me in CNA forum that the all-time low for midas is 25 cts, can u tell me which year and month did Midas hit 25 cts? Becos I saw from chart even that March 2009 Midas lowest closing price is 33 cts

3rd) what do u think are the chances of midas getting suspended due to accounting problems in future?(Since midas is an S-chip and some people may have this worry)

4th) from yr TA view , do u think midas is likely to drop to 34-35 cts in the immediate short-term?

I bought 20 lots of midas at 41.5 cts on 15th feb on tat breakout day.

I had oredi fully-paid up these 20 lots.

Hisey: So you are in the money and celebrating cos Midas is now 43 cents liao? Or you sold too early?

The upside potential is there as Midas was about S$1 just 12 months ago. Then it began its slide down to as low as 31 cents on too much bad news from the Railway sector in China.

Hahaha...Hisey, Midas broke through 40 cents this morning.

"There is always something to worry about. The question is whether the market has already worried about it."   -- this is a good principle to bear in mind when viewing stocks that have fallen sharply over a period of say 6-months to a year.

Midas fits the bill. If you think the mraket has already priced in all its worries about Midas business, then the stock price can only go up with even a small improvement in its prospects - for example thru a new order win. Likewise the overall mrket -- it has been endlessly worrying about Euro crisis -- now it has taken the challenges in its stride and turned bullish as there is evidence of the crisis being contained, the US economy is coming up , etc etc Good luck!

No one really has a crystal ball which can see how Midas will do next week. Best to invest for the mid-term and understand FA. Based on FA, Midas is not a strong stock. However, it has been overly beaten down by a spate of negative developments. It would not be too difficult for it to break thru 40 and 50 if the Chinese Ministry of Railway re-starts its engine. 

Do u guys think Midas will break 40 cts by next week or not?

This morning I bought 25 lots of Midas at 39 cts after my broker called me say midas broke 38.5 cts resistance implying will be above 40 cts short-term so he say can buy at 39 cts.

But now midas drop from 39 cts.

I can pick up this 25 lots but if Midas will drop to 36 cts in the short-term, then I might be better off cut loss now and buy back cheaper later perhaps??

So anyone wanna share his TA view on Midas's likely short-term price direction in the next few trading days?

China's urbanization will provide sustainable investment and become a key factor in bolstering the country's growth during the coming five years, said a top policy adviser on Friday.

"The country's urbanization rate is expected to increase by 1 percentage point every year for the next 20 years," said Zheng Xinli, vice-president of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE).

The figure is predicted to rise from the current 47 percent to 57 percent in 2020, and to approximately 70 percent by the end of 2030, according to Zheng.

He said urbanization will be a significant contributor to the nation's gross domestic product (GDP) during the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015), and in the longer term. "By 2026, the country's GDP is likely to exceed that of the United States and be the largest in the world," he said.

Considering that it could bring tens of millions of rural residents to the cities, and thus boost domestic consumption in real estate and a number of related industries, the urbanization process is bound to be a sustainable engine of China's economic growth," said Li Tie, director-general of the China Center for Urban Development at the National Development and Reform Commission.

The government may need to spend a total of 24 trillion yuan on urban infrastructure by 2020 because the number of city residents will continue to increase, according to a report released by the China Development Research Foundation.

And Midas's business is not restricted in China alone . Now it had venture into Malaysia intercity Urban rail project , Singapore downtown line project , Turkey LRT project , Switzerland double deck train project .

i think we have to thank the EUROZONE crisis and that freak train accident to allow us to be able to buy MIDAS at this cheap rock bottom price .
