Effective date was the year of 2017.
The stock was borrowed two and a half years ago instead of 6 months?

I checked with some holders of BW and was told that BW stocks in their case were borrowed from 6 months back and as recently 1 month ago. Shares were recently returned post BT article.

This is suspicious.

Thanks to Jason for his views. Based from his experience, I will not take his views lightly.

The timing of BT report , 6 working days before release of Annual Results, is suspicious. The strategy of the writer is simple – “conjure a destructive subject theme and build the case around it”. There are gaping holes in the article which affect credibility of the writer. Also, not a single positive point was mentioned on this 28 year old home-grown business. So much for fair and balanced reporting. This is a joke!.

The upcoming 1Q results will certainly show a large jump in profit.

It's pretty simple to know that because in 1Q in 2018, the reported profit was only S$5.7 million, due to a transition in business model in China.

The franchise model took effect in 3Q18 in China with group profit being S$29 million.

Strip out the $9 million in other operating income from China, and we get $20 million.

Well, if we take this as a base and add 30% growth, we get S$26 million for the group. Wow, that would be a 356% jump in net profit.

Motley Fool article (21 March 2019)

Understanding Best World International Limited’s Recent Volatility – and What to Do About It

www.fool.sg/2019/03/21/understanding-bes...what-to-do-about-it/

2019 will mark the first full year in which the company is using the franchise model, which could be a catalyst for sales growth and margin expansion. In addition, sales growth in other geographies could also improve the company’s profit this year.

After the large share-price fall, the company trades at a very reasonable valuation. Best World’s share price is at S$2.58 at the time of writing. This is still well below the all-time high price of S$3.33 and could be a good entry point for potential investors. The share price of S$2.58 gives rise to a price-to-earnings multiple of 19.4. I see it as a reasonable price to pay for a company that has been growing at a double-digit pace for the past few years.

Best World is also an asset-light company that generates significant returns on equity. As of 31 December 2018, it is sitting on a S$195 million net cash position, giving it a stable balance sheet. The trailing dividend yield of 2.4% should also provide investors with more confidence in the reliability of the company’s sales and earnings figures.
